The historic parish of St. Nicholas in downtown St. Louis has been serving generations of Greek Americans. But as with many large cities, the Greek community has moved to the suburbs, leaving the church in an area where most of its flock has moved out west.
After nearly a decade of back and forth communicatoin, the parish has decided to stay in downtown; and it plans to build a community center in the West Country. The St. Nicholas Family Life Center will cost about 8 million dollars and serve a community center for the parish.
